Betty McGirr

Betty McGirr, 78, passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. Betty immigrated with her family from Ireland in 1967. She settled in North Mississippi and worked as a nurse for Dr. Buddy Spencer in Sardis and Oxford until she was 72 years old. Betty loved gardening, watching movies and golf. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McGirr; and son, Terrance McGirr. Betty is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Charles) Davis; granddaughter, Katrina Davis; and brother, Derek (Betty) Nesbitt. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the South Mississippi Humane Society, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501. A Graveside Service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis, MS on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 10:00 am. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
