Bill Bruce Jobe passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his home in Long Beach surrounded by his loving family. His death followed a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was a longtime coast resident. Mr. Jobe was born on August 5, 1927, in Calhoum City, Mississippi. His family soon moved to Grenada where he graduated from Grenada High School and immediately served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Jobe graduated from Mississippi State University with a business administration degree in banking and finance. He moved his family to the coast to open Murdock Acceptance Corp. He also served as branch manager for Pioneer Credit Corp., Loan Services of Gulfport and Norwest Financial. Mr. Jobe belonged to the Gulf Coast Loan Exchange, Gulfport Chamber of Commerce, Elks Lodge of Long Beach, Gulfport Yacht Club, Gulfport Noon Lions Club where he held many offices. He has been a member of First Methodist Church of Long Beach since moving to the coast. Playing duplicate bridge was a favorite pastime until his illness prevented attendance. He was a member of the Gulf Coast Bridge Association, ACBL, Unit 180. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie Beasley Jobe, and his father, Phillmore Fall Jobe. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Jobe; three daughters, Karen Jobe Young of Gulfport, Dr. Kathryn Jobe Bush and her husband, John Bush of Gulfport, and Jana Lynn Jobe of Hattiesburg; and two granddaughters, Hayley and Sydney Bush, who worshiped him as their "Papa". He is also survived by his sister, Clare Bowie, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and his dearest and loyal friends, Jim and Jerry Grissom. The family wishes to express their graditude to Dr. Paul Mullen, Dr. Richard Tilley, and Trinity Hospice for their dedication, care, and support. Memorials may be made to the First Methodist Church of Long Beach, 208 Pine Street. Visitation will be Tuesday night, May 10, 2005 at Bradford-O'Keefe, 15th Street, Gulfport from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Long Beach First Methodist Church. where friends may visit from 10:00 until the service. Burial will follow at Long Beach Cemetery.
