Billie H. Blythe (MSgt USAF retired), 89, of Gulfport passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in Gulfport one month before his 90th birthday. His kind and generous guidance will be sorely missed.
Billie, born in Voth, TX on August 28, 1922, served in the Civil Conservation Corp and then joined the US Air Force. He served during World War II and the Korean War before he retired. His second retirement was from the FAA where he worked as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. He and his wife, Sally were long time residents of the MS Gulf Coast. They currently reside at the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
Billie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cora Walton Blyth; his beloved son, William Andrew Blythe; six brothers and six sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ethel "Sally" Stoner Blythe and their children, Robert Blythe of Dallas, TX, Janet (Jim) Herren of Long Beach, MS and Beverly (Denzil) Frymier of Vernon Hills, IL; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the Armed Forces Retirement Home Chapel where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
