Billie Sue Lee (Mrs. Billie), 78-years-old and longtime resident of Woolmarket MS, passed away peacefully and went to meet her Lord surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 27th 2018, at Garden Park Medical Center, MS. She suffered a stroke the Saturday before in her sleep and never regained consciousness. Mrs. Billie was born on January 23, 1940 in Magee, MS. She was the oldest of 8 children born to Bernard and Ted Marie Galle of Ocean Springs, MS. Her remaining siblings include Frank, Johnny, and Tammy.
Mrs. Billie is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Alvin W. Lee (known affectionately as the “Mayor of Woolmarket”) who passed away in 2006 and her loving daughter Michelle who passed away in 2017. Her remaining children include Alvin, Doug, Carl, and Karla Lee. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mrs. Billie was well known throughout Woolmarket as she worked and managed several of the local grocery stores in the area for many years. She was known for her warm greetings, bright smile, and her compassion towards everyone. Throughout her life as a loving wife, homemaker, and devoted sister she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift was “joy”, shown through her constant smiling and loving heart.
A Memorial Service for immediate family and close friends to celebrate Mrs. Billie’s life will be held at her home in Woolmarket on Saturday 14 July 2018 from 4 – 5 PM. Her ashes will be interned at a later date alongside her husband in a private family ceremony.
