Billy Bane Braswell of Kennesaw, GA was born in Leland, MS on December 15, 1928. He was the son of George P. and Eva Braswell of Clarksdale, MS, both deceased.
He lived in Clarksdale , Ms and graduated from Mississippi State University where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity.
He retired from Smith, Kline and Beecham in 1987. He was a former member of Long Beach First United Methodist Church where he served on many different committees and was a member of the Administration Board and a Sunday school teacher. He was presently a member of Kennesaw United Methodist Church, the Elton Adams Sunday School Class, and the Happy Voyagers group.
He graduated from Air Force Officer Candidate School and served in the Military Air Transport Command and Strategic Air Command and was honorably discharged in 1953 with the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was active in Sigma Chi Alumnae Chapter on the Gulf Coast and was very active in the Seaman's and Truckers Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George C. Braswell of Knoxville, TN; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Wittenberg of Little Rock, AR, Mrs. Romalie Kelley of Mayflower, AR and Mrs. (Joan) A. D. Greene.
He leaves a loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Kay Bradley Braswell; two sons, Bradley Stephen Braswell of Kennesaw, GA, Scott Michael Braswell of Kennesaw, GA; and two grandsons, Carson Scott Braswell and Forrest Ross Braswell, both of Kennesaw, GA.
Visitation will be at First United Methodist Church in Long Beach from 12:00 until 2:00 P.M. followed by the service at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 17, 2009. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery. A
memorial service will be held in Kennesaw later.
