Billy Worthington Campbell

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Billy Worthington Campbell, 89, of Vancleave, MS. He passed peacefully at his home on December 17, 2024.

He was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born on April 3, 1935 in Luverne, AL to Robert Lee and Malinda Worthington Campbell. Billy served in the Airforce for four years and retired from the Airforce Reserve after twenty years. He loved messing with his tractor. When he wasn’t doing that, he loved planting a garden, fruit trees, and listening to blue grass music. Later in life, at the first of the month, he would attend the retiree luncheons.

Billy was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Campbell and Malinda Worthington Campbell; brothers, Joe (Cloydne), John (Mary), Frank (Pete), George (Maria), Tom (Shirley), and James (Norma-Jean); sisters, Dorothy (Stanley), Laureen (Enis), and Julia (Guy); baby girl, Agnes; and step brother, Howard.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Eleanor Shelby-Jean Campbell; three children, Robert (Geraldine) Campbell, Barbara (Billy) Cosmich, and Judy (Chris) Cowart; seven grandchildren, Jerod (Leah) Campbell, Bethany (Jeremy) Dunkin, Robin (Daven) Cosmich, Shelby, Christopher, Jonah, and Abbigail Cowart; seven great-grandchildren, Malichi, Copelynn, Gatlin, Aubrey, Colston, Macy, and Kannin; two sisters, Susie Watson and Jean Treaux; sister-in-law, Maria Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Vancleave, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
