Billy Jack Gartman

Billy Jack Gartman, age 77, of Long Beach, died Thursday September 23, 2010 in Ocean Springs. He was a native of Lyman and had lived on the Coast for most of his life. Mr. Gartman served in the U.S. Air Force for twenty years, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He served as a deacon at Sharron Baptist Church in Long Beach. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. and Josephine Lott Gartman; his wife of nineteen years, Dora Elizabeth Wilkerson Gartman; a son, Robert Wilkerson; and his foster mother, Margaret Barnes. He is survived by daughters, Michelle (Charlie) Dillon of Kansas, Lois (Leroy) Adkins of Huntsville, AL; five sons, Ricky Wilkerson of Hazelhurst, Danny (Belinda) Wilkerson of Biloxi, Tracy Gartman of Illinois, George Wilkerson of Seminary, Randy (Donna) Wilkerson of Long Beach, several grandchildren great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a special friend, Angela Ayers of Long Beach. The funeral service will be Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until the service.
