Mr. Billy Ray White, age 86, of Vancleave, MS passed away on June 4, 2017. Mr. White was born on January 4, 1931 in Purvis, MS to Walter and Ethel White of Leakesville, MS. He was married for 60 years to Janice McLeod White of Leakesville/Vancleave, MS. Billy Ray served his country in the Korean Conflict 1951-1953: Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars: State of Mississippi VFW Commander 1992: State VFW Adjutant/Quartermaster 1993-2003: member of American Legion #1 Jackson, MS: DAV#Jackson, MS. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Leakesville, MS, USM Graduate and retired from International Paper Company/Brookley Air Force Base, Mobile, AL. Billy White loved/was loved by all who knew/worked with him especially the Veterans of Foreign Wars both National Organization/State of Mississippi. He was always there to help any Veteran that needed his help and there were many of them over the 50 years of service he provided through the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was predeceased by his son, John Thomas White, parents, Walter/Ethel White, brother, John WayneWhite, wife's parents, M.G./Carrie McLeod, brothers-in-law, Lynn Eakes, Bobbie Fike, Bob Cornish and sister-in-law Frances McLeod Fike. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Janice McLeod White of Vancleave, MS: son, Mike (Melinda)White of Southaven, MS: daughter, Ginny (Rev Butch) Knight of Albany, GA: granddaughter, Carrie (Buddy)Kelley/great-grandchildren, Joshua, Levi, Olivia of Leesburg, GA, Will (Hannah) Knight/ great grandaughter, Ruby Mae of Germantown, TN: son, Allen Tracy)White/granddaughters, Elizabeth/Catherine of New Braunfels, Texas: sisters-in-law, Peggy Barton Mobile, AL: Billie Eakes, Leaf, MS: Lois Cornish, San Diego, CA: Joanne White, Vancleave, MS Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 7, from 10am until 11am, with an 11am chapel service, all at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the Department of Mississippi VFW Auxiliary Hospital, % Benita Lyman, 14 Spencer Rd., Wiggins, MS 39577-8284. Our thanks to all those very special persons at the Biloxi VA Drs, nurses, support staff including the Cooks/Housekeeping/Therapists/Recreation/volunteers that were so sweet/helpful to Billy Ray during his almost 3year stay in CLC...our adopted extended family...he (we) loved all of you! And our special friends from the Coast: Betty Gavlinsky, Violet Blanchard, Marie Ward, Maggie/Milton Richardson, Mary/Jim Underhill, Sue/Johnnie Richard, Cindy Schoonmaker. You all have been my rock to lean on for the past ten years of Billy Ray's life and our very good friend Cathy Beard from Eupora, MS. He loved you and Jerry very much. The Vancleave Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
