Mrs. Bobbie McKay of Gulfport, MS, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2007. Bobbie was born to Oba Martin Mitchell and Leslie Mitchell of Catahoula, MS on March 20, 1928. Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Mac" McKay; her parents; a daughter, Christine Carter; and son, David Wayne McKay; sister, Elsie Grant; step-sisters Edna Sampson and Charlene Ladner; step-brothers, Jeff and Ponchie Martin; and her step-mother, Dora Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs. McKay were married for 52 years and 11 months, They traveled extensively throughout the United States, the West Indies and the Middle East before Mr. McKay's retirement from Chicago Bridge & Iron, Co. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Norma Mitchell Costello and step-sisters, Frankie Threkel, Jeanette Spradley, and step-brother, Hubert Martin. She will be forever missed by her beloved sons, Walter "Buddy" McKay, Jr. and Joseph McKay, Sr. and his wife, Gwyn, and her daughter, Lana McKay. She is survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. McKay was a faithful steward of her Lord at O'Neal Road Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years and treasurer for six years. Special thank you to Dr. E. Davidson and the Oncology Group and to Trinity Hospice. Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2006 from 5 until 6 p.m. for family and 6 until 9 p.m. for friends at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
