Bonnie Delancey Smith, age 74, of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Born in Biloxi, Mississippi on December 14, 1949, Bonnie went to school and graduated from Oak Grove High School, then attended Perkinston Community College. A longtime resident of the Gulf Coast, she enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, cooking meals for her family and friends, watching Mississippi State Football and going to the raceway with her husband. She met lifelong friends throughout her many years as a dispatcher at Singing River Electric Company, where she retired.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Woodrow Wilson Smith; her mother, Thelma Davis Delancey; her father, Austin O. Delancey; and by her sister, Faye Briggs. She cherished her family more than anything in the world and her grandkids always held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Janey Linley; son, Chris Holifield; grandchildren, Austin (Nikki) Holifield, Nick Holifield, Deryk (Brittany) Smith, Alex (Kyle) Kane, Paige, Megan and Christopher Linley; great-grandchildren, Eliza and Grant Holifield, Gabriel and Ezra Kane, Colton and Brynna Smith; two siblings, Tina Willmann and Harry Delancey; and her beloved dog, Annie. Thank you to all our family and friends for the overwhelming love and support, we are forever grateful.
