Bruce Dwayne Sledge

Bruce Dwayne Sledge, age 59 of Gulfport, MS and a native of Mobile, AL passed away in his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. 

Mr. Sledge was a graduate of Baker High School. He was a member of the United States Air Force. He served the majority of his time in Amsterdam Holland where he worked for the postal services. Mr. Sledge loved to travel and enjoyed being outdoors. He loved the beach and all kinds of music and above all, spending time with his family. He was an avid pet lover and loved his companion, Smokie. Mr. Sledge had one son, Bruce Joel Sledge who he loved with all of his heart and being a parent was one of his greatest joys. Mr. Sledge was a wonderful son, father, brother and friend as he had a heart of gold. He had a caring and loving spirit and helped many people in need. Mr. Sledge touched the lives of many people and left a lasting impression on each and every person he met. He will truly be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Sledge and Eleanor Sledge of Mobile, AL.

Mr. Sledge is survived by his son, Bruce Joel “BJ” Sledge of Gulfport, MS; his sisters, Tammy (Ali) Forouzan of Mobile, AL and Deborah (Steve) Whittington of Stockton, AL; his brothers, James Sledge, Jr. of Mobile, AL and Stephen (Angela) Sledge of Mobile, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Lessie Sansing, Beverly Breece, Mack McCree and Jonathan Stafford for all of the love and care they helped provide for our loved one.

A Graveside Service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm.
