Cameron Leigh "Thor" Braa

Cameron Leigh “Thor” Braa, age 24, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Thursday, July 26, 2018 of an apparent suicide. He was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and friend to many. He had the most beautiful smile, kindest heart, twisted sense of humor and infectious laugh. He was a gentle soul and would do anything for anyone. He was never short to give someone a compliment, even a stranger, to brighten their day. He loved animals of all kinds, often bringing home stray cats. Spending time with his family and friends was his highest priority. For him, once he made your acquaintance and you became his friend, you were part of his family for life. He was born in Powell, WY on June 1, 1994. His family relocated to Ocean Springs, MS in December 1999. He graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 2012. Throughout his years in school he participated in several sports but fell in love with lacrosse and played for Ocean Springs Gators for several years. He surprised his family when he decided to play the tuba in the school band and marching band, and really enjoyed it. Cam was involved in the culinary program at OSHS. He aspired of becoming a great chef one day. He was greatly influenced by his dad’s ability to always prepare awesome meals for family and friends. He had several types of jobs: fast food, convenience store clerk, lawn care, line cook, busboy, pizza delivery boy, etc. Eventually, Joe took a leap of faith and hired him for traffic control with D.O’Brian Construction in Gulfport, where he was employed until his death. He was given a chance to prove himself and attended classes to earn his certifications. For all that knew him, becoming a Traffic Control Tech was very unexpected but he excelled and loved his job and the people he worked with. He enjoyed video games, paranormal and super-hero movies, anime, head-banging music, food and devouring it, riding dirt bikes, four-wheeling, lacrosse and rugby, and showed no fear climbing trees. Cam loved learning about all types of insects, animals and weird little facts that most would not know until he surprised you with his knowledge. He was an avid fan of all DC and Marvel Comics and could tell you about every character and everything about them. He followed his momma’s passion for Halloween and loved dressing up for it. He was fascinated with tattoo art and was proud of the two he proudly wore. He took pride in his appearance and enjoyed his time at the gym and his achievements. Cameron is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ted and Phyllis Braa of Powell, WY; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence Uchtman of Mountain Home, AR and Venita (Carleton) Uchtman of Billings, MT; great-grandparents, William and Nellie Uchtman of Mountain Home, AR; his aunt, Linda (Uchtman) Denison of Billings, MT; and his uncles, John Braa of Powell, WY and Robert Carleton of Lovell, WY. Survivors include his loving parents, Paul and Kim (Uchtman) Braa, brothers, Dewey and Erik, all of Ocean Springs; his loving sister and family, Taunya (Braa) and Chad Iverson, and daughter, Taylor Rose of Powell, WY, two beautiful children, Lawrence Kyson and Cambria Lynn of Ocean Springs, MS, also, a very large extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins; and can’t forget Vegas, the family dog. Cameron will always be remembered for his courage during difficult times, and even though he took his own life he is at peace without pain now.
