Capt. Laverne William (Bill) Gay, age 90, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Chicago, IL, and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for the past four years. As a veteran of the U. S. Navy with over 36 years of service, he received many awards and citations during his military career. He served in WW II, the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Cornell University.
Capt. Gay was preceded in death by three sons, Michael Gay, William Gay and Timothy Gay. He leaves his wife of 45 years, Martha Gay; two sons Christopher Gay of Idle Wild, CA, and Jeb (Cindy) of Biloxi; two daughters, Elizabeth (Mason) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Mona Wier of Clanton, AL; five grandsons; two granddaughters; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018, at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road in Biloxi where friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors.
