Carl Rackley

Hubert Carlton Rackley, III, age 63, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025. Carl was born on September 14, 1961 in Bentwaters, England. He was the first born child of Hubert and Carol Rackley. 

He was a long time resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast graduating from St Martin High School in 1979. He received a BS degree in Computer Information Services from Delta State University and a MBA in Finance from the University of Memphis. Carl began his employment with the Holiday Inn Corporation in Memphis, Tennessee, and soon after started his long career in the banking and finance industry with 1st Tennessee Bank. Carl was employed as the Senior Vice President, Director of Planning and Strategy for Hancock Whitney Bank where he served 17 years in numerous leadership positions.

Carl loved watching and playing sports. He played baseball for St. Martin High School and participated in American Legion Baseball. His passion for baseball led him to serve as the manager of the Delta State baseball team for a number of enjoyable years where he made many of his lifetime friends. He was an avid golfer spending many Sunday afternoons on the course with his brother Doug and dear friend, John Welter. He was a member of the Cleveland Country Club (Cleveland, Mississippi) and a member of the Gulfport Yacht Club.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Carol Rackley. 

He is survived by his wife Paige Everett Rackley of 35 years, his daughter, Mary Claire Rackley and his siblings: Andra Overstreet (Tim), William Rackley, Douglas Rackley (Lisa), and Jocelyn Teismann (Todd), and a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Carl will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his humble spirit, his love for his wife, daughter, family, and friends, and his selfless and steadfast commitment to the people around him. He was a devoted member of St Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Gulfport where he led as Senior Warden and demonstrated his commitment to a life of joyful servitude. In addition he was a loyal member of a men’s Bible study in Gulfport and was a perfect example of what a Christian man looks like.

Services will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Peters by the Sea. Visitation will be held one hour before the service from  10:00 - 11:00 am. Interment will be held Tuesday, February 18 at 11:00 am at Calvary Episcopal Church in Cleveland, Mississippi.
