Carl Strickland, 51, of Lizana, died Friday, November 18, 2005. He was a native of Woolmarket and lived on the Gulf Coast his entire life. He was a graduate of Harrison Central and Ms Gulf Coast Community College. Mr. Strickland was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a past President/Vice-President of Gulfport Industrial Softball League, a Sponsor of the 40's Party, and an active member of the Krewe of Harlequins, serving as Group Leader, Float Captain, Vice-President, Duke and King. He was a life member of Coalville United Methodist Church in Woolmarket.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Strickland
He is the son of Bob and the late Velma McQueen Strickland of Woolmarket. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Strickland; daughters, Ashley Triana and her husband, Matthew, and Jessica Johnston; a son, Casey Johnston and grandson, Cole Johnston; three brothers, Butch Strickland and wife, Annie and their son, Matthew, Clyde Strickland and wife, Pam and their daughters, Brandy and Rachael, Shelby Strickland and wife, Deedy and their son Josh; four sisters, Jo Ann West and her sons, Todd and Jason, Sandra D'Angelo and her son, Jordan, Abby Brauchle and her husband, John and children, Bethany, Sean, and Daniel, Beverly Myers and her husband, Thomas and sons, Chad and Adam; as well as Fra, their Italian exchange student, and a large group of close friends.
Carl and Debbie had built a loving relationship that was recognized and commented on by all who knew them. Carl never missed "The Dance".
The family extends special thanks to Sondra Johnson, Memorial Hospice, Dot Saucier, and Dr. Pande and Staff.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, in Gulfport where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the service
