Carney "Skip" Murphy

Carney “Skip” Murphy of Ocean Springs passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at age 86.

Born in Clarksville, Tennessee, Skip joined the Air Force and retired out of Keesler in 1973. He later worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula. He was an active member of St. Alphonsus Church in Ocean Springs, volunteering in the St. Vincent de Paul Society and as a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Cleo Murphy, his siblings, Evelyn, Robert and Norma and his son Thomas.

Survivors include Darlene, his wife of 66 years, his son, Don, nieces and nephews, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Church of Ocean Springs at 11 a.m. Friday January 3, 2025. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow on Monday January 6, 2025, at 12:30 at the Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society (Donate - SVDP USA)
