Carol Ann Sanford Fullilove

August 27, 1950 — January 1, 2025

Long Beach

This may be a bit unusual, but who wants to be ordinary, especially when talking about someone so extraordinary. My wife, Carol Ann Sanford Fullilove, was taken home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully on Wednesday January 1, 2024 at 2:45 p.m. After battling cancer for over ten years, she is now free of pain, receiving her hug from the Master, dancing and praising God on the streets of heaven. We should celebrate with her knowing that the promise of heaven is real and available to all who know Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Carol was a godly woman, a true disciple, the consummate wife, mother, grandmother and friend, never having a harsh word or thought of anyone, ever. Her picture should be in the dictionary under honesty, gentleness, and selflessness. She wore the badge of “wonderwoman” maintaining a household of six unique and active children while remaining sane. Carol never desired anything for herself. She always thought of others first. She cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, close friends, siblings and cousins. Carol will be sorely missed by we who are left behind, leaving a hole in our hearts until we join her in heaven. I was so blessed by God and privileged to have had Carol as my wife and partner for over 55 years. Her smile and look are forever ingrained in my mind.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Carroll Sanford and Mary Nell Sanford of Bay St. Louis, MS, and her favorite (and only) son in-law, Michael Joseph Johnson of Hampton, AR. She leaves behind her husband, William Michael Fullilove of Long Beach, MS; 3 daughters, Dorothy Michelle Johnson and Jo Anna McClain (both of Magnolia, AR), and Sara Nell Fullilove (Gulfport, MS); 3 sons, Christian Michael Fullilove (Ocean Springs, MS), Nathaniel Carroll Fullilove and William Thomas Fullilove (both of Long Beach, MS); grandchildren, Colby McClain (Mandeville, LA), Mary Beth Fullilove (Waynesboro, MS), Aidan Fullilove (Long Beach, MS), Harmonee Johnson (Magnolia, AR), Brody Fullilove (Metairie, LA); great-grandson, Dean James Davis (Waynesboro, MS); a sister, Rebecca Sanford Dedeaux (Gulfport, MS); a brother, Robert Hugh Sanford and sister-in-law, Katrina Sanford (Pensacola, FL) and their children and grandchildren; a blessed 97 yr. old aunt, Sara Issacs (SC); and numerous cousins in North Mississippi, South Carolina, and Georgia; and don’t forget the in-laws and their kids in Texas, Florida, and Massachusetts!

There will be a life celebration memorial service in Long Beach, MS on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at 208 South Burke Avenue (behind Long Beach Presbyterian Church) Long Beach, MS. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Fullilove family.
