Mr. Carrol Joseph Sonnier, age 94, of Biloxi passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016.
Mr. Sonnier was a native of Biloxi and a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. As a young man, he worked on shrimp boats. He spent most of his career as a Captain of crew boats with Robin Boat Rental in LA until her retired. He was also a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Oleus Sonnier and Della Comeaux Sonnier; brothers, Daniel Sonnier, Harold Sonnier and Julius Sonnier; sisters, Sylvia Diaz, Ethel Tirrel and Nellie Williams; and daughter-in-law, Deborah Economides Sonnier.
Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Lelia Theresa Ransonet Sonnier; children, Carolyn Sonnier Graley (Clarence), Russell Sonnier (Connie), Mark Sonnier (Patti), Morris Sonnier (Rae) and Jeanne Sonnier Wright (Samuel “Skipper”); brothers, George Sonnier (Delores) and John Sonnier (Pat); sisters, Ester Marsh, Mary Brochard (Carl) and Alice Goff (Charles); 18 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Mr. Sonnier’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Vincent de Paul c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10446 LeMoyne Blvd., D'Iberville, MS 39540.
Visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at D’Iberville Memorial Park.
