Castel Louis “Pop” Allgood, 85, of Huntsville, AL passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023. Castel was born July 6, 1937 in Moselle, MS to Robert and Susie Allgood.
Castel received his GED while in the US Army. He received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his time in the Army such as the SSgt. US Army National Defense Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal, and 5th Award Army Commendation Medal. He served 8 campaigns and received 6 overseas Service Bars as well as served with the 5th Lemco. In 1979, Castel retired from the Army. Following his retirement, he worked as an offshore pumper in Grand Isle, LA till 1993. He was also a Deacon at Big Ridge Baptist Church.
Castel is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Susie Allgood; wife, Mary Allgood; brothers, Ampston, Alston, JB, Dub, Esmerader, Stanford, and Colton Allgood; and sister, Levada Blackledge.
Survivors include his children, Anthony (Debra) Allgood, James (Venecia) Allgood, and Melody Doyle; grandchildren, Dani (Kevin) Miller, Heather (Jaime) Kalaw, Brandie (Will) Benoit, Nickolas (Janie) Allgood, and Christina Allgood; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy Allgood, Autumn Allgood, Jackson Kalaw, Zoe Miller, and Amelia Benoit.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
