Cecil G. Jones

Cecil G. Jones, son, brother, husband, father, and friend, exceptional at all, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, November 1, 2006 in Gulfport. He was born in Lumberton and had been a resident of Gulfport since 1959. He was retired from Mississippi Power Company after 35 years of service. He was a deacon at Michael Memorial Baptist Church where he had been a member since 1988. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Encouraging friends was Cecil's gift. He was the best there was at enjoying people, enjoying the gift of working the land, enjoying helping, enjoying his church and listening to others. He bragged on everybody. He was our hero. He was our cheerleader. He'd blush at that one, but it wouldn't stop him. He'd keep on throwing a pat on your back or squeezing you tight to remind you that you were valuable. He was preceded in death by his parents, Braxton B. and Elnora Jones; a sister, Dorothy E. Jones; a brother, B. B. Jones, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jones of Gulfport; a daughter, Tiffany Jones; a son, Martin G. "Marty" Jones and his wife, Diane; two sisters, Roberta Nese and Mary Dunlap; two brothers, Roland Jones and Jimmy Jones; and four grandsons, Jordan, Braxton, Brennan, and Joel Jones Visitation will be held Friday evening, November 3, 2006 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road, Gulfport. The funeral service is Saturday, November 4, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Michael Memorial Baptist Church with interment following at Finley Cemetery. View and sign register book ay www.bradfordokeefe.com.
