Cecil W. Broome, 93, of Biloxi died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in Gulfport, MS.
Born in Bassfield, MS, Mr. Broome has been a resident of the Gulf Coast since 1945. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard who served during WWII. Upon his discharge from the Coast Guard, Mr. Broome lived on Ship Island for two years as a light house attendant. He joined Robert McVadon in business as a professional photographer in downtown Biloxi. In 1969 Broome Studio in Edgewater Mall was opened. Mr. Broome remained active in his business throughout his life. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Biloxi.
Mr. Broome was preceded in death by his wife, Dell Broome; daughter, Rhonda Broome; and two sisters, Iris Brumfield and Ann Davidson.
Survivors include his daughter, Marcia LaFleur; son, Carlon Broome and his partner Connie VanBuren; sisters, Val Bily and Lois Morris; brother, Fred (Helen) Broome; three grandchildren, Garett(Michelle) LaFleur, Ashley (Markus) Haeusler and Lauren (Chad) Hill; and four great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Avery Hanson, Addison Haeusler and Lila Ann Hill.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am with an 11:00 am service all at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport, MS.
