Charles Cecil Martin, Jr.

Charles Cecil Martin, Jr., age 74, of Gulfport, died Monday, December 17, 2007 in Gulfport. Mr. Martin was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Burton Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a choir member, Sunday school teacher, President of United Methodist Men's Club, and Chairman of the Administrative Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Mary Martin; and four sisters, Betty, Dorothy, Mary Jane, and Sally. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Martin of Gulfport; sons, Charles "Chuck" Cecil Martin, III and his wife, Carol of Bailey, MS, Kent Martin and his wife, Alberta of Pass Christian; daughters, Carolyn Reed and her husband, Richard of Meridian, Candace Martin of Biloxi, and Kim Martin of Gulfport; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bobbie Norton of Sacramento, CA. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Burton Memorial United Methodist Church in Gulfport where friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the service. Rev. Stirman Williamson will officiate. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi.
