Charles “Charlie” Frederick Hall, Jr., 85, of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2014, at the home of his daughter, from complications of MDS.
He was born on December 29, 1928, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the only child of Charles Frederick and Christine (Gehron) Hall. He graduated from Williamsport High School and joined the United States Air Force in 1948. He served twenty-seven years with distinction, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and received commendations for his dedication and bravery throughout his service.
On November 17, 1951, he married his wife of almost sixty years, the love of his life, Thelma Alice Swanzy, and they had six children. Charles and Thelma travelled the world during his service career and into his retirement. He was an avid auto and motorcycle enthusiast and one of his greatest pleasures was enjoying an afternoon ride on his Harley Davidson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, and his daughter, Georgia Hall Marquiss.
A beloved father, he is survived by three sons, Max (Peggy) Hall, Charles, (Taffy) Hall, and John, (Joyce) Hall, as well as two daughters, Christine, (Stanley) Smigiel, and Mary (Kenneth) Rainey. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Biloxi, MS on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 10:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:30 am until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
