Charles Horton Cornett, 77 of Gulfport passed away on November 8, 2013. He was born to Homer Lee and Helen Cornett on June 30, 1936 in Laurel, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother Homer Lee Cornett, Jr.
Charlie graduated Hattiesburg High School in 1955 but spent the majority of his career in the moving and storage business on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Charlie shared a passion for his home in Gulfport, the great outdoors especially trout fishing and cooking for family and friends. He was a masterful storyteller and you could be certain only some were true.
Charlie is survived by his sons Chad Cornett of Baton Rouge and Michael Cornett and his wife Cathy of Gulfport; a sister Libby Jester of Tampa, two brothers Robert Mac Cornett of Tampa and Herman Benjamin Cornett of Atlanta; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport (228.865.0090) on Tuesday November 12, 2013, 5:00p.m. followed by a service at 6:00p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Charles Cornett Memorial Fund setup at Regions Bank in his honor (Acct# 0194818908).
