Mr. Charles Edward "Ed" Mullen, Sr., a lifelong resident of Biloxi, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at his home at the age of 85.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Sadie and Mike Mullen, one brother, Eugene, and one sister, Dalphia "Dillie" Cannette.
Mr. Mullen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Connie Mullen; seven sons, Charles Edward, Jr. and his wife, Ida,
Danny Mullen and his wife, Virginia, Alex Mullen and his wife, Tanya, and Johny Mullen all of Biloxi, Richard Mullen and his wife, Wanda, of Baltimore, MD, Joseph Mullen and his partner, David Wilson, of Sun, LA, and Phillip Mullen and his wife, Robin, of Ocean Springs; and one daughter, Judy Mullen Smith and her husband, Donald, of Slidell, LA. He is also survived by one brother, Donald Mullen and his wife, Ann; three sisters, Lurline Simon and her husband, George, Melanie Bass and Audry Clark all of Biloxi. Mr. Mullen leaves behind eight children, twelve grandchildren, Donnie Smith, Jr., Vanessa Stanley, Rachel Smith, Eric Mullen, Kevin Mullen, Phillip Mullen, Jr., Brandon Mullen, Johny Mullen, Jr., David Mullen, Herbie Mullen, Brittany Berry, and Anne Marie Berry; five great grandchildren, Hayden Smith, Ryder Smith, Sloan Smith, Blake "Little Pat" Stanley, and Katlynn Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mullen was a protestant. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He was a lifelong member of Bricklayer's Union, BAC Local 6, the VFW, and American Rifleman's Association. He was also a member of the USS New Mexico Association. He retired from the Biloxi V A Medical Center in 1997 after 26 years of service.
Visitation is Wednesday, May 16, 2007, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
