Charles Eugene "Sam" Yates, Sr. 75, of Biloxi passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia but was a long time resident of his beloved Gulf Coast. He retired from the United States Air Force as a TSGT having served in the Korean Conflict and in Vietnam. Mr. Yates also retired from Civil Service at Keesler Air Force Base.
Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents, Earl "Banjo" and Bertha Lineberger; his wife, Rosemary Treloar Yates; brothers, Robert Yates and Donald Lineberger; and grandson, Kevin Wayne Sorensen.
Mr. Yates is survived by two sons, Charles "Chuck" Yates of Biloxi, MS and Michael Sorensen and wife Brenda of Dawsonville, GA; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Arthur and Patricia Pylypchuk both of McMechen, WV and Alberta Zelic of Benwood, WV; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Seymour of Ocean Springs, MS and Regina Hebert of D'Iberville, MS; a brother-in-law, Eddie Treloar; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday, September 20, 2007 at 10:00am in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
