He grew up in Dothan, Alabama, and has been a citizen of Biloxi for some thirty years. Surviving relatives include two children: a son, Charles G. (Chase) Taylor III and a daughter, Christina Taylor; his parents, Charles G. Taylor, Sr. and Jean Taylor of Destin FL, two brothers: William Stewart Taylor of Jacksonville, FL and Randy Taylor of Destin, FL; three sisters: Cathy Howell of Greenville, SC; Jan Lee of Dothan, AL and Pat White of Dothan, AL; in addition to nine nieces and nephews. Charlie was a dedicated father, and spent many hours with his two children. The respect between father and family was undeniable. Charlie worked diligently in the Biloxi Main Street program and headed up a committee to organize the property owners for their participation to "Revive the area around Main Street." The Vieux Marche Mall in Biloxi began to breathe life into downtown. In 1993 Charlie led a group of town property owners and tenants to assist one and all in the restoration of downtown. At this time, the clearance to re-open Howard Avenue through the mall, was said by Taylor to be the group's first success. During the 90's, Charlie renovated the Kress Building, Woolworth Building, the Biloxi Library and several other smaller buildings in Downtown Biloxi. The City of Biloxi was always in support of the work he did. He was a fervent and enthusiastic ambassador for Biloxi and Southern Mississippi. Over the years he was known to be willing and ready for anything good for Downtown Biloxi.
