Mr. Charles Glenn Battaya, Sr., 60, of D'Iberville, MS, died Monday, July 4, 2011, in Biloxi. Mr. Battaya was born in Biloxi and remained a lifelong resident of the Gulf Coast. He worked as a welder in shipbuilding and he was of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred F. Battaya, Sr., and a brother, Alfred F. Battaya, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Stacey Battaya of D'Iberville, and Shelly Battaya of Gulfport; son, Glenn (Shirley) Battaya, Jr. of St. Martin; mother, Janette Blackmon of Saucier; sisters, Karren King of D'Iberville, Donna Battaya of Saucier, Marie Lynell Peebles of Saucier and Lisa (Colin) Fountain of Biloxi; brother, Douglas (Cathy) Battaya of Forest, MS; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews; and great nieces and great nephews
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations made to the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
Private memorial services are planned for a later date. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
