Charles Jerry Williams

Mr. Charles Jerry Williams was born Dec. 26, 1940 to Cephus and Classie Lee Williams in Silver Creek (Arms) Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Cephus Williams, Sr., his mother, Classie Fortenberry Williams; wife, Sadie H. Williams; daughter, Jasper L. Williams; brother, Thomas Carol Williams and grandson, Randy R. Williams. Jerry confessed Christ at an early age at Rose Hill Baptist Church in Silver Creek, MS. He served many years as a faithful member, baptized under the leadership of Rev. S.L. Thigpen. He united with the New Bethel Baptist Church in Biloxi MS. in the early 1970s under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl E. Potter. He joined and was a member of the Senior Choir where he served under the leadership of Dr. Robert F. Coker and remained a faithful tither to the Lord throughout his entire life. During his tenure at New Bethel, Jerry served as the bus driver for the church transporting members to and from different services. He also transported the church to various outside events and would do what was necessary to carry out his assigned tasks. On Tuesday, April 24, 2007, Jerry departed this life to embark upon life eternal with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is survived by four sons: Martin Williams of Milwaukee, WI; Marvin Williams of Fayetteville, NC; Reginald Williams of Collinsville, IL and Frederick C. Williams of Jackson, MS; three daughters: Nelda VanHorn of Killeen, TX; Zelda Williams of Biloxi, and Stacy Williams-Fairley of Atlanta, GA: three grandsons: Jarron “J” Williams of Atlanta, GA, Carlos R. Williams of Biloxi, and Michael VanHorn of Killeen, TX; three granddaughters: Kacie VanHorn of Houston, TX, Sophia Brown and Mikiya Williams both of Biloxi; five brothers: Robert (Gladys) Williams of Seattle, WA, Cephus Jr. (Ruby) Williams of Charlotte, NC, Charles Ray (Owedia) Williams of Dallas TX, Bobby (Cynthia) Williams of Silver Creek, MS. James Paul (Angie) Williams of the Dominican Republic; three sisters: Janie Williams of Brooklyn, NY, Fannie Williams and Vanessa Parkman, both of Silver Creek, MS. He is further survived by his daughter-in-law, Robin D. Williams; sons-in-law: Alfred D. Fairley and Alan VanHorn; sisters-in-law, Ruby Williams, Wilma Rosetta, Mona Faye Hayes, Gloria (Eddie) Rucker, Chaney (Wilbur) Walters, and Audrey McCrae; brothers-in-law, Costello Hayes and Columbus (Betty) Hayes, as well as a colossus of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 1 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Broken W Acres Cemetery in Silver Creek, MS. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
