Charles Floyd Martin, age 88 of Biloxi, passed away on January 23, 2019.
Charles was born on October 31, 1930 in Pike County, Ohio to Leslie and Jessie Martin. He served in the Air Force for 24 years. Charles then transitioned to “civilian” life first as a teacher in the Biloxi Public School System and then as an instructor at Keesler AFB where he continued his dedicated support to the service he loved.
Charles was an avid reader, with a special fondness for history. He enjoyed traveling, eating and watching the old classics on TV. He was a faithful member of Heritage Methodist Church in Biloxi, where he delighted in crafting the annual Memorial Day Celebration for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty of Biloxi; his children, Leslie (Terri) Martin and Linda Fields; grandchildren, Drew Martin, Halie Martin, Barton Fields and Sarah Fields; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Anna, Betty and Sharon of Saads Healthcare. They took excellent care of Charles prior to his passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations in Charles’ name to Heritage Methodist Church of Biloxi or the Humane Society of South Mississippi.
A visitation will be held at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm where friends may call one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
