Mr. Charles D. McDavid, age 78, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, from a lengthy and courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
He had been a resident of the community for 29 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. 1st Army from 1946-1948. Upon leaving the Army, he was a graduate of Sewanee (University of the South) where he lettered as a first string halfback on the football team. He was a former member of the American Legion and retired as an Insurance Manager from St. Paul Insurance Co.
Mr. McDavid was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Martha McDavid and brother, Jack McDavid, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Mary McDavid of Ocean Springs, MS, two sons, Harry McDavid of Burke, VA, and Jack McDavid of San Francisco, CA, one brother, Prince McDavid of Nashville, TN, and two grandchildren, Amanda McDavid and Brian McDavid, both of Burke, VA.
On Tuesday, November 29, 2005, there will be an 11:00 A.M. graveside service in Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
