Charles Francis Rose, JR. age 94, died December 19, 2013 in Biloxi, MS. Mr. Rose was born December 20, 1918 in Biloxi, MS., and was a current resident of Biloxi, MS. Mr. Rose moved to Bayou La Batre, AL in 1935 and was a 1937 graduate of Alba High School. Prior to joining the U.S. Army during World War II, he trained as a journeyman lineman with Alabama Power Company in Mobile, AL. Mr. Rose was an electrician by trade in Bayou La Batre. Throughout his career, he worked with Waterman Steamshipping, the Alabama State Docks, and Marine Bulk Ore Handling Corp. in Mobile. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2434 and the Knights of Columbus Council 10499 of Ocean Springs. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs, and former member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Bayou La Batre. He was a descendant of Jean-Baptiste Baudreau dit Graveline who came to the Gulf Coast with Pierre Le Moyne D’Iberville in 1699.
Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr., and Josephine Cazeaux Rose of Biloxi; his first wife, Winifred Bosarge Rose; his sisters, Eunice Kettering, Grace McCormick, Mercedes Harun, and Dorothy Wood ; his brother, Billy Rose; and his granddaughter, Michele Rose Paul.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine C. Rose of Biloxi; his daughters, Margaret (Ken) Gibson of McIntosh, Florida, and Ruth (Kavin) Woodward of Grand Bay, AL; his sons, Charles (Linda) Rose, III of Mobile, David (Kay) Rose of Grand Bay, and John (Diane) Rose of Mobile; his step- daughter, Carol O’Bannon of Gautier, MS, and step-son, Richard (Vicki) O’Bannon of Indianola, MS; grandchildren, Paul (Tiffany) Rose, Marcy Baxter, Jaime (Marty) , Jason (Christine) Gibson, Kavin (Shelley) Woodward, Amanda (Ted) Kneten, and David Rose; step-grandchildren, Robin (Jeff) Kirby, Marty and Chris Black and Patty Sprouse; four great-grandchildren, Christian Baxter, Myra Baxter, Paige Gibson, and Brandin Paul; step-great-grandchildren Lindsey, Tyler and Dakota Shurmock; brother, Ronald (Betty) Rose of Biloxi; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home with a rosary at 12:45 p.m. and services following at 1:00pm. Interment will follow in Oddfellow’s Cemetery in Bayou La Batre, AL.
