Charles “Charlie” Taylor Veazey, age 81, of Vancleave, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Charlie was born on August 31, 1941, in Attala Co. in McCool, MS to Benny Taylor Veazey and Jessie Mae (Lewis) Veazey. He graduated from Ethel High School and Christy Trade School. Charlie worked as an electrician at Ingalls Shipyard from 1974 to 2011. Prior to this, he was employed as an appliance repairman, tire fabricator, river boat sailor, and constable for Attala Co. in the early 1970s.  He served as the Sunday School Teacher at the Gautier Church of God for ten years. Charlie was a member of Ramsay Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, fishing, hiking, and sightseeing.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Jessie Mae Veazey; daughter, Sherry Smith Veazey; and siblings, Wanda Mae Veazey, James Byron Veazey, and Carolyn Fay (Veazey) Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Kay Veazey; children, Doyle Taylor Veazey, Anita Ruth (Veazey) Mitchell, and Kenny Wayne Veazey; step-daughter, Stephanie Ann Yost; grandchildren, Lauren Smith Katkam, Byron Smith, Rachel Veazey, Rebecca Veazey, Jessica Mitchell, and Emily Mitchell; step grandchildren, Zachary Fowler and Sienna Yost; and great-grandson, Waylon Ridge Walters.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Ramsay Hills Baptist Church. Friends may visit an hour and a half before. Interment will follow at Vancleave Cemetery #1.
