Chester J. Trahan

Chester J. Trahan, age 85, passed away on May 5, 2010 at his home surrounded by close family and friends. He was a longtime resident of Biloxi, though born in Maurice, Louisiana. He made Biloxi his home after serving in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed at Keesler Air Force Base where he retired after 35 years. Mr. Trahan was a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus #1244 where he was named Grand Knight, Mr. Biloxi twice and Houseman for 40 years. He was also affiliated with organizations such as Alhambra where he served as Grand Commander, Vice Grand Commander, and Scribe of the Exchequer. He was also active in Saltillo missions and a dedicated member of the French Club in Biloxi. He was a faithful and long time member of St. Louis Church where he served as chairman of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Eucharistic minister and lector. He was also awarded the Lumen Chriti Award. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Regina Trahan, and their five children, Roger (Sue) Trahan, Charlotte (Billy) Mosley, Rose (Tom) Kavanagh, Mike Trahan and Randy (Kay) Trahan. Other survivors include, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Trahan was well known in Biloxi for his kindness, generosity and dedication to helping others. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 9, 2010 from 5 until 8 P.M. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Avenue in Biloxi. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church in Biloxi where friends may visit one hour before service time. Burial will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Blessed Seelos Parish Hall, 360 Lameuse Street, immediately following burial services. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
