Chloe Josephine Guice Wise, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, at home in Biloxi.
Chloe was born October 21, 1931, to Richard Reed Guice, Sr. and Elizabeth Porter Guice. She attended school in Biloxi, and in 1951 she married James Velbert Wise. Chloe was a graduate of Wake Forest University and worked along with her husband, James, at the Mississippi State Hospital, Whitfield, near Jackson, MS. She was extremely creative, enjoyed flowers, birdwatching, loved to sing, and had a beautiful voice. Chloe was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. She provided care and support for her church community following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, James Velbert Wise; her parents, Richard Reed Guice, Sr. and Elizabeth Porter Guice; and siblings, Elizabeth Alma Guice Cotten, Richard Reed Guice, Jr., Charles Joseph Guice (her twin brother), William Wade Guice, and Porter Lee Guice.
Chloe is survived by her brother-in-law, Oliver Cotton; her sister-in-law, Rowena Piper; and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at Biloxi City Cemetery on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 am.
