Christina Mae Lenco Freeman

Christina M “Tootsie” Freeman, age 89 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023.

She was born to John and Anna Lenco on January 4, 1934 in Van Voorhis, PA. she was a loving mother and grandmother. She lived her life completely devoted to her Catholic faith. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Washington, PA in 1952- Summa Cum Laude. She also attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. She was employed as a Stenographer for the Social Security Administration in Washington, PA, the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC, and Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. She was a certified Red Cross “School Gray Lady”, and active member of the American Business Women’s Association, and a volunteer for the Jackson- George Regional Library System and Jackson County Civic Action Committee Head Start Program. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Christina was preceded in death by her son, John Charles Freeman; siblings, John Lenco, Ann Ruoti, William Lenco, Florence Lander, Madalene Ault, Irene Knodle, and Raymond Lenco.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Lisa) Freeman of Bentonville, AR, Tom (Jennifer) Freeman of Ocean Springs, MS, Kathy Freeman of Austin, TX, Carol (Dan) MicKow of Gulf Breeze, FL, Diane (Richard) Pace of Nashville, TN, and Robert (Lorri) Freeman of Moss Point, MS; and her two siblings, Thomas Lenco of Canonsburg, PA and Donna Lenco of Brunswick, MD.

Christina was adored by her nine grandchildren, Kristen Williamson of Austin, TX, Clay Arthur of Austin, TX, Marianne Freeman of Ocean Springs, MS, Taylor Freeman of Dallas, TX, Jake Freeman of Ocean Springs, MS, Brittney Aranda of Clermont, FL, Jourdan Pace of Nashville, TN, Katie Goff of Hurley, MS, and Matt Freeman of Hurley, MS; and six great- grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a thank you to Cindy Forsberg for taking care of our mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 24, 2023 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will be held at a later date at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Canonsburg, PA.
