Christine Byrd

Mrs. Christine Byrd, age 84, of Ocean Springs, MS, died Tuesday, September 20, 2005, in Gulfport. Mrs. Byrd was a resident of the community for 41 years. She volunteered with the American Red Cross for many years. She earned her Masters Degree in education at Florida State University and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Byrd, and a son, Kerry Byrd. She is survived by three daughters, Connie Gerlach, Colleen Mixon, Cathy Burns; one son, Michael Byrd; four sisters, Edna Spencer, Pauline Savino, Edith Hampton, and Louise Hale; five grandchildren, Erin Lunday, Shane Burns, Kelly and Megan Byrd, and Sister Teresa Agnes (Lisa Gerlach); and two great-grandchildren, Luke Lunday and Sean Lunday. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 29, 2005, from noon to 1 p.m., with a 1 p.m. funeral service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
