Christine H. Kayes

Christine H. Kayes, 54, of Long Beach, died Friday, October 21, 2005 in Long Beach. Mrs. Kayes was a resident of Long Beach since 1977. She was a graduate of University of Massachusetts Amherst and received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. Mrs. Kayes was a National Board Certified Teacher and Chairman of the Science Department of Long Beach High School, where she taught Chemistry and Physics. Mrs. Kayes was an Unitarian Universalist and was a member of Monday Nights Women's Group. Mrs. Kayes was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Florence Harris. Survivors include her husband, Michael Kayes of Long Beach, 2 sons, Aaron T. Kayes of Long Beach and Timothy D. Kayes of Memphis, TN, 2 sisters, Judith (John) Peeler of Lewisburg, PA and Meredith Harris of McKinleyville, CA, 1 brother, Charles D. (Judy) Harris of Bel Air, MD, one niece and several nephews. There will be a memorial service at 5:30 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, O'Neal Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the Gulf Coast Unitarian Universalist Church Building Fund, or Christine Kayes Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Kathy Cook, Long Beach High School, 300 E.
