Christopher Michael Guertin was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. It could be said that he didn’t have many friends, but that’s because almost everyone who met him became family. He entered the world in Norfolk, VA on November 20, 1973, and passed suddenly on April 6, 2024, in Hurley, MS. In between, he made it his mission to leave the world a better place than he found it. He succeeded, and he did so with style.
His enthusiasm, warmth, and passion for life inspired everyone around him. He was always there for a friend and was truly gentle with other’s souls. Chris was well known for his amazingly large collection of Hawaiian shirts, nerdy t-shirts, and ties for all occasions. The clothing he wore most proudly was his United States Air Force uniform, in which he served as a Technical Sergeant for more than 12 years. He gladly answered his country’s call and served with the utmost dedication and professionalism, earning many awards and honors along the way. In recent years, Chris found a home within the local theatre community. He was a true patron of the arts and was involved in everything from performing onstage to building and decorating the sets. He loved every minute of it, and the people he did it with.
Chris is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Michelle Guertin, parents Michael and Terry Guertin, daughter Heather Bell, son Andrew Ferguson, grandchildren Lucas, Logan, Lillian, and Nickola, brother Matthew Guertin, sister Mary Berry, more chosen family and friends than can be counted, and his beloved dog Moose.
Funeral services will be held at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15452 O’Neal Road in Gulfport, MS on Saturday, April 13, 2024. Visitation begins at 1 pm, and service follows at 2 pm.
Please bring your best memories of Chris to share. Smiles, laughter, and tears are all welcome. Chris was a light to all who knew him, and though his time with us was all too brief he should be remembered as he lived and loved – with joyous abandon.
