Christopher King, age 53, of Moss Point, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023.

 

Christopher was a longtime resident of Moss Point. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the American Intercontinental University. He was a husband, father, handyman, animal lover aka the Cat Whisperer, decorated veteran, active hobbyist, hoarder of tools, Mississippi Militia member, doomsday prepper, Lego enthusiast and Star Wars fanatic that was fluent in sarcasm and four-letter words. Chris had a signature grumpy scowl with a great sense of humor and a desire to help those in the community. We miss you- you Stubbornazz Big Bird.

 

Christopher joined the Navy the 28th of December 1989 through the 27th of December 1999. His first job was a Hull Maintenace Tech and continued into a Security Guard position advancing to the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. After leaving the Navy Christopher decided to join the Army in 2003 as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic where he made the rank of Sergent/E-5. Chirstopher was awarded his Aircrewmen Badge in March 2007 and advanced to Staff Sergent/E-6. Chirstopher served 3 terms: Kuwat/Iraq from the 8th of March 2003 to the 20th of February 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom, Afghanistan from 18th of February 2010 to the 15th of December 2010 and Operation Iraqi Freedom from the 24th of October 2006 to the 11th of October 2007. Christopher was a decorated veteran earning 8 Ribbons: The Navy "E" Ribbon (2), Navy and Army Good Conduct, Sea Service Deployment, Army Service, Overseas (3) and 16 Medals: NATO, Army National Guard, Global War on Terrorism Expedition, Meritorious Unit Accommodation (2), National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Armed Forces Service with 1 Bronze star, Kuwat Liberation, Amed Forces Reser W/(M) Device (2), Afghanistan Campaign with Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation (2), Southwest Asia with a Bronze Star, Iraq Campaign Medals during his deployment.

 

Chris joined his parents, Mary, Donald, and brother, Russell. He is survived in death by his loving wife, Rachael King; daughters, Kayla King and Lillian King (in the loving hands of co-parents Brandy and Sam Hassan); his beloved granddaughter, Kennedy King; stepchildren, Sydney, Brent, Dakota, Cemantha, and Cody; and sister, Donna.

 

Visitation will be held at the Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023, from 6 to 8pm. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, at the Biloxi National Cemetery. A post service reception will be hosted at the King's residence at 3818 River Pine Dr Moss Point, MS 39563.
