Claire Galy Dick Jones

Claire Galy Dick Jones passed away peacefully at the age of 65, on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born on March 8, 1953, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Henry Narcisse Dick, Sr., and Norma Richards Dick Mattina. She was a member of the 1971 graduating class of Biloxi High School where she was a majorette and a member of the concert band. After graduation, she attended Perkinston Junior College and was a member of the Perkettes Dance Team. On January 21, 1972, she married the love of her life, David Carlton Jones, to whom she was happily married for 46 years. They began married life in Woolmarket on property first settled by David’s grandfather Fritz for whom Fritz Creek is named. Claire was a devout Catholic and spent much of her adult life working for the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi until her retirement in March 2018. She took great pride in her Biloxi heritage and was proud to have grown up on Back Bay. She treasured her family and was always happy to share pictures and stories about their various activities and accomplishments. Claire never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, and delighted in her grandchildren. She loved flamingos, tea parties, and boiled crabs! She is preceded in death by her father, Henry; her mother, Norma; her brother, Henry Narcisse Dick, Jr.; her father-in-law, William Grandville Jones, her brothers-in-law, Lionel Joseph Holley, Jr. and Lawrence Arthur Jones. Survivors include her loving husband, David; cherished children, David Carlton Jones, Jr., Angela Claire Jones, and Bradford William Jones; siblings, Richard Fred Dick, Sr., and his wife Carol Fayard Dick, Carol Ann Stentz, and her husband, William Cyrus Stentz, Jr., and sister-in-law JoAnn Vancourt Dick; mother-in-law, Nola Fritz Jones; daughter-in-law, Nicole Diane Jones; treasured grandchildren, Kalie Denise Jones, David C. Jones, III, Cole Bradford Jones, and Abigail Nicole Jones. She also leaves to cherish her memory numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8343 Woolmarket Rd, Biloxi, MS 39532, at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
