Claire Marie Mac Leod

Claire Marie Mac Leod, age 65, was born October 23, 1956 in Quincy, MA and passed away on October 21, 2022.

Claire was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Francis and Sarah Veronica (McGee) Mac Leod; her brother, James Michael Mac Leod.

Claire is survived by her siblings; Ann Elizabeth Mac Leod, Catherine Louise (Mac Leod) and her husband John Foley; Eileen Veronica (Mac Leod) Deleo and Joseph Francis Mac Leod.  And nieces, Lisa Taillefer, Lauren Deleo, Sarah Foley, Mary Foley; nephews, Mark Deleo and John Foley.

Claire graduated from Braintree High School in 1974, Braintree, MA.  She then went on to earn her Associates Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Quincy College, Quincy, MA in 1981.

While attending school, she worked at Elihu White Nursing Home in Braintree from 1972-1978, and Conrad’s Supermarket in Randolph from 1978-1983.  She also was employed with Lombardo’s Events and Specialty Occasions part time, from 1983-1992.

While she did enjoy her part time jobs, Claire’s true calling was teaching.  Her work as a Preschool Teacher for 41 years is truly inspirational.  She started her teaching career at Nantasket Preschool, Hull, MA.  She then went on to Wollaston Childcare Center, Quincy, MA; KinderCare, Braintree, MA; Wollaston Childcare Center, Quincy, MA; A Child’s View, Quincy, MA.  Finally, from 2016 – 2022, at Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, Biloxi, MS. 

Claire had a funny, kind, and gentle spirit, which instantly drew children and their families to connect with her in a special way.  She always took time to stop whatever she was doing and help a fellow teacher, comfort a crying child, or just say hello.  She had an exceptional way of making everyone feel loved and accepted for who they are.  She was a treasured coworker, friend, and sister.  Claire was loved by so many.  She was truly an angel on earth, and will be missed immensely.  Until we meet again, sweet Claire.

A Memorial Mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2090 Pass Rd, Biloxi, MS on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 11 am with visitation starting at 10 am.  A reception follows the Mass at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall.

The Funeral Mass will be held in Massachusetts at Sacred Heart Church, 72 Washington St, Weymouth, MA 02188 on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1030 am.  Burial will follow the Mass at 12:30 pm at Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West St., Braintree, MA 02184.
