Clara Belle Casey Walker Yates, 77, formerly of Mobile, AL and Biloxi, MS entered eternal rest Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in Gulfport, MS. Clara was born September 1, 1933 in Saraland, AL and moved to the Gulf Coast in the late 50's where she remained a lifelong resident. In her early years, she was active in the 4-H Club, cheerleading and various other high school activities. Clara dearly loved dancing and waterskiing. She was formerly a very active member of the Oak Park Garden Club and loved to flounder with Josephine. Clara was a retired nurse from the Veterans Administration. She was a wonderful, good-hearted gracious southern lady. Clara was also a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and traveling the world. She had a genuine, sincere laughter that was contagious and radiated the room. Clara dearly loved animals, nature and people. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth E. Walker, Sr. of Biloxi; her parents, John B. and Viola L. Smith Casey; one brother, John E. Casey and wife, June Casey all of Lucedale, MS. Clara is survived by her second husband, Phillip Yates of George County; son, Kenneth E. (Katie) Walker, Jr. of Biloxi, MS; daughter, Katherine E. Walker Waugh (Jim) Nesbitt of Ocean Springs, MS; two grandsons, Kenneth E. (Kristen) Walker III; Kaleb E. Walker; two great-grandchildren, Karley Elizabeth and Ken E. Walker IV all of Biloxi, MS. Clara is the oldest of eight children. She is survived by six, three brothers and three sisters; Gordon (Sharon) Casey; Steve Casey, Earl (Audrey) Casey all of George County, MS; Lucille Casey, Joyce (Howard) Parker of Fairhope, AL JoAnn Casey (Jerry) Hudson of George County. Funeral services are on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1340 Beach Blvd., Biloxi. Friends may visit from 11:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Biloxi City Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
