Clara Jewell Bonds

Clara Jewell Brown Bonds, age 98, of Roxie, MS passed away on September 9, 2022.

She was born on December 12, 1923 in Natchez, MS to parents Roine Jackson Brown and Ollie C. Brown.  She was one of eleven children and was the last of her family generation.  She enjoyed her large family plus her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Jewell (aka Mam Maw or Aunt Jewell) was preceded in death by her spouse, John C. Bonds; her son, Alton J. Bonds and her daughter-in-law Cheryl Adams Bonds.

She is survived by her son, John Bonds, Jr. and her nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren plus many nephews and nieces.

She will be remembered for her quiet demeanor, her strong family bond and her great outlook on life.  She was a Methodist minister’s wife and partner.  They touched many lives along the way while rearing two sons and caring for many others.

Private services will be held at a later date in Roxie, MS.
