Clement (Clem) R. Dellenger, Jr., age 65, of Saucier, died Sunday September 16, 2007 in Gulfport. Mr. Dellenger was born in Biloxi and was a longtime resident of the Gulf Coast.
He was a 1960 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi where he was an outstanding three-sport letterman and a graduate of Tulane University where he was an All American end and a baseball and footbal letterman. An injury shortened his pro career. He coached one year at John Curtis High School in the New Orleans area and coached 25 years at MGCCC Perkinston Campus 1966 to 1990. From 1992 until 2000 he was assistant principal at St. John High School, Gulfport, where he served in many vital capacities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clement Roy and Inez Dellenger, Sr. and a baby brother.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Dellenger; a daughter, Tracy Togerson; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Hauser and Ginny Driesbach and ex-husband, George; two brothers-in-law, Phillip Hauser and wife, Sharon, and Paul Hauser and wife, Mary; three grandsons, Bryce, Ashton, and Ryken Torgerson and a granddaughter, Whitney Torgerson; and five nieces and nephews.
The memorial Mass will be Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m.. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gulfport. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Coach Clem Dellenger Memorial Scholarship Fund at MGCCC Perkinston Campus, P.O. Box 99, Perkinston, MS 39573.
