Clifford Dye was born the youngest of 10 children to Keene F. and Ella Jane (Canada) Dye in Williamson, WV on January 25, 1929. He graduated from Williamson High School and, after a short stint working on the railroad, he joined the recently formed U.S. Air Force.
In the Air Force, he worked on Project Bluebook, the DEW (distant early warning) line station in Kotzebue, Alaska, and radio electronics in North Africa, Asia and the U.S. While he worked on Project Bluebook, he was posted in Bismarck, ND, where he met the love of his life, Norma A. (Hagerott) Dye. They were married in August 1956.
When he switched to radio electronics, he was sent to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS and he and Norma fell in love with the MS Gulf Coast. Whenever he had the option, he requested to be posted at Keesler and his son, Bruce D. Dye, was born at Keesler. Clifford was posted at Clark Air Base in the Philippines, and his daughter, Carol J. Dye, was born there. Clifford retired from the Air Force in Ocean Springs, MS and went to work on electronics at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
Clifford is survived by his daughter, Carol (Rockville, MD), his grandchildren, Bryce (Ocean Springs, MS) and Bristine (Ocean Springs, MS), his great-grandchildren, nieces, and a nephew.
