Clifton J. “Bud” Boudreaux, Jr. was called home on August 30, 2021 and now rests in the welcoming arms of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.
He was born on March 4, 1953 to Clifton J. Boudreaux and Delores Duhon Boudreaux of Gulfport, Mississippi. Bud was a healthy and fit 68 years young until a brief yet fierce battle with cancer robbed this world of him. He was born in Gulfport and attended Gulfport East High School where he played football and baseball, and earned accolades in both sports. Bud was quite the fitness buff; he was a power lifter in college and an all-around good athlete who loved sports and the camaraderie it brought with his friends. He was awarded an Army ROTC scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, graduating with honors.
Although Bud had a successful career in banking, about to retire as a Vice President of Commercial Banking from Regions Bank, his legacy came from his generous heart. For years he dedicated his time to delivering meals to needy individuals of the community on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas morning as part of the Harrison County Feed the Needy program. In 2016 Bud was named a Citizen of the Year by the Mississippi State Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers as a result of his many years of dedication to the Open Doors Coalition for the Homeless.
In 1997 he was a founding member of the Spiders Golf Classic, a yearly tournament that has raised over $400,000 to benefit local families suffering financial hardships. Much more than just a golf tournament, in 2001 Spiders sponsored a Community Outreach Program providing financial assistance to families for a variety of reasons, including serious medical conditions and tragic accidents. And as a banker, Bud was the Treasurer and financial adviser for the Spider’s organization.
Bud was a loving step-father to Michael, who he loved as his own. He was a dedicated friend, described as compassionate, joyful, humble and solid as a rock. He had a subtle intellectual humor that was uplifting. Bud’s compassion extended to God’s creatures, too. Although he was allergic to cats, that didn’t stop him from bringing home an abandoned and starving kitten who he loved on daily.
His most proud title, though, was as husband. For years he sought the perfect spouse, someone to compliment his spirit, someone to whom and from whom he could share his love of God, his devotion, and give all of his love. Angele and Bud were that perfect mix, a blend of styles of grace and humility. Bud described Angele as his whole world, and for Angele, he was hers.
Bud was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Michael Jude Boudreaux.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of almost 17 years, Angele Philibert Boudreaux. He is also survived by his step-son Michael Jacob Johns; his sister-in-law, Mary Boudreaux; and niece, Michelle Boudreaux Fore.
