CMSgt (Ret.) Marvin W. “Bill” Reid

CMSgt (Ret.) Marvin W. “Bill” Reid of D’Iberville passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006 at the age of 67. Born in Hattiesburg, Bill loved life growing up in south Mississippi. In 1958, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served 20 years as a proud veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He earned numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star Medal. Upon his retirement, Bill was one of the initial cadre of the USAF First Sergeant Academy when it was established at Keesler AFB and later served as commandant. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Tsuneko Debbie Reid of D’Iberville, two sons Charles W. (Brenda) Reid of South Ogden, Utah and Michael L. (Amy) Reid of Ocean Springs, 3 brothers, and 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Sr. and Lou Ethel Reid of Hattiesburg. In honor of Bill’s wishes, a graveside interment will take place at the Biloxi National Cemetery on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 11:00am with full United States Air Force Military Honors.
