Col. Richard Day Goree, U.S.A.F. Retired, 86, died Sunday, March 13, 2005, at his home in Biloxi, MS surrounded by his family. He retired from the military in 1970 after serving 34 years of active duty in the air force.
Col Goree was Born December 14, 1918, in Gordon, LA and had been a resident of Biloxi for the past 11 years. He was an active member of the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church and served as an elder for many years. Next to studying scripture and leading Bible studies, Richard's passions were flying and Golf.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Roberts Goree; his first son, Richard Lynn Goree and a granddaughter, Erin Jean Logue.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Mary Alice Goree; his son, Robert Goree and his wife, Gina, of Panama City Beach, FL; his daughters, Martha Blouin and her husband, James, of Baton Rouge, LA; Sharon Goree of Navarre, FL; Judy Logue of San Antonio, TX and Alicia Adams and her husband, Ken, of Newbury Park, CA; daughter-in-law, Mary E. Goree of San Antonio, TX and many treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 16, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A memorial service will be held at the Gulf Coast Seventh Day Adventist Church, 13301 Hwy. 67, Biloxi, MS on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Graveside services wil be held Friday, March 18, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Beal Memorial Cemetery, 316 Beal Parkway NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL where he will be recognized with full military honors. His longtime friend, Lewis Rich, will be officiating.
