Curtis Eugene “Gene” Bloodworth, age 66, of Biloxi, MS passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport, MS from an aggressive throat cancer.
He was the second son of James Curtis Bloodworth and Pearl Lorrene Blair Bloodworth born on February 9, 1949, at Army and Navy General Hospital in Hot Springs National Park, AR. As a member of a military family, he lived in many places until his family settled in Biloxi, MS.
He was a graduate of Biloxi High School where he participated in football. He served his country as a Reserve of the United States Marine Corps in 1970. Curtis attended the Gulf Coast Community College earning his Electronics AA in 1980. He moved to Hattiesburg, MS to continue his education at the University of Southern Mississippi earning a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1990.
While living in Hattiesburg, Curtis was employed as the System Manager at the Hattiesburg American Publishing Company from 1984 to 1992. He returned to Biloxi in 1993 for employment with Science Applications International Corporation at Keesler Medical Center until 2010.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John T. Bloodworth. He leaves behind his wife of twenty years, Melinda E. Johnson; two step-sons, Robert J. Dillon Jr. and Jason Edward Dillon; five step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit 1 hour prior. Burial will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
